INTRODUCTION
The Elife S5.5. This is the first handset in the new ‘S’ series and the S5.5 gets its name due to the 5.5mm thickness. This makes it the slimmest Android smartphone yet.The first thing that will strike you is the design. The S5.5 is a work of art and looks absolutely stunning in person. The pretty looks are backed up by a magnesium alloy chassis, which lends it strength and durability.

DISPLAY
Gionee S5.5 sports a 5-inch Full-HD Super AMOLED display that offers vivid albeit over-saturated colours. However, the black levels are very good and the display looks gorgeous with black themed apps and wallpapers. It comes with Gorilla Glass Class 3 coating to guard against scratches.

PROCESSOR & OPERATING SYSTEM
The Elife 5.5 is powered by MediaTek’s octa-core SoC. The eight cores can scale up to 1.7GHz and there’s 2GB of RAM to accompany it. phone comes with Android v4.2(jelly bean) now it is upgradable to v4.3(kitkat).

CAMERA & STORAGE & BATTERY
The 13-megapixel rear camera can also shoot videos at a resolution of 1980×1080. Gionee S5.5 also has a 5-megapixel front camera.Only around 9GB of the 16GB of internal storage is available to users, which isn’t much at all considering there is no support for memory cards.Stuffing a big battery into a phone only 5.5mm thick was always going to be impossible, so perhaps the 2,300mAh cell inside the Elife S5.5 is the best we could expect. For its size, its performance is quite impressive, and two days of average use was achievable.

VERDICT
Gionee Elife S5.5 never claims to be a flagship phone (Elife E7 enjoys that status). The phone’s headline feature is its slim and sleek form factor and premium fit and finish. It surely lives up to it. It also looks more expensive than what it’s priced at. Even in terms of performance, the phone has good potential as evident from its gaming prowess.
Mobile phone is available in the market with a price tag of INR 22000rs ($350 us dollar).
