The luck of the Ireland has helped deny United Arab Emirates (UAE) a thrilling maiden World Cup victory on Wednesday night.Gary Wilson (80 off 69) made his own fortune to help guide Ireland (8-279) to a two-wicket win with four balls to spare at the Gabba.
Earlier, Ireland has won the toss and elected to field first .UAE gott a well start but lost their way in the middle overs but after Shaiman Anwar outstanding knock 107-run and Ahmed Javed (42) ensured that UAE finished with fightinf total 278 for nine in their 50 overs. Anwar is the first player to score a century for UAE and he hoped that it would be enough to give UAE their maiden win in World Cups.
In reply,the credit goes to the UAE bowlers, they bowled brillantly Mohammad Naveed and Manjula Guruge ensured that Ireland did not get off to a slow start, and Mohammad Tauqir turned the screws further with an excellent spell. At the time Ireland were 97 for four, IRE wanted to decent partnership, which was provided by Andy Balbirnie and Gary Wilson.Both of them batted sensibly for over 13 overs, and added a crucial 74 runs before Balbirnie’s dismissal for 30. However, his wicket proved to a benefical in for Ireland, as that brought Kevin O’Brien on the field ,O’Brien hit a 24-ball 50 that included two back-to-back sixes to bring up the landmark. O’Brien was out off the very next ball, but it was enough to pull out the victory away from UAE.
