Defending champions India reached the World Cup semi-finals on Thursday with a crushing 109-run win over Bangladesh at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

India will face either Pakistan or Australia for a place in the March 29 final.

In first innigs , India posted  total of 302 for six, built on the back of a magnificent century from Rohit Sharma, who completed his first World Cup hundred with a slice of luck. Rohit  scored spectacular 137 off 126 balls and his rollicking 122-run fourth wicket stand in only 15.5 overs with the belligerent Suresh Raina (65), India were able to post a commendable 302 for six after opting to bat at the MCG.

In reply, Bangladesh were dismissed for 193 in 45 overs with Nasir Hossain the top-scorer on 35, while Umesh Yadav took four for 31.

The victory took the tally of India’s successive World Cup victories to 11, including four in the last edition, as it was yet another easy outing for the title contenders.

MATCH SUMMARY-India 302 for 6 (Rohit 137, Raina 65, Taskin 3-69) beat Bangladesh 193 (Nasir 35, Yadav 4-31, Shami 2-37) by 109 runs.
