7 Wicket Victory for Kolakata Knight Rider.

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) start their IPL 8 campaign with a 7-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI)  at Eden Gardens.
Captain Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten 98 powered MI to 168/3 in 20 overs. In reply, home team skipper Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav starred with the bat as KKR chased down the target in 18.3 overs.

In first innings Rohit Sharma, who began the last over needing 7 to get to his century, could only score five in the over and remained unconquered on 98, while Anderson finished unbeaten on 55 from 41 balls.

Morne Morkel and Sunil Narine were impressive  of the KKR bowlers, finishing with combined figures of 8-1-46-2, while the rest of the bowling line-up leaked 121 runs in 12 overs. The left-arm spinner Shakib-al-Hasan in particular came in for a lot of stick, conceding 48 runs in his four overs, though he accounted for the wicket of Aditya Tare.

Kolkata Knight Riders 170 for 3 (Gambhir 57, Suryakumar 46, Pandey 0) beat Mumbai Indians 168 for 3 (Rohit 98*, Anderson 55*) by 7 wickets

Man of the Match: Morne Morkel for his match winning spell 2 -18.
