inmore signs that the Universal Orlando® Resort just keeps getting bigger and better, it announced plans with Loews Hotels & Resorts for a fifth on-site hotel set to open in summer 2016. Reservations have opened for dates starting on July 14. Value season rates start at $119 a night for a seven-night stay and $143 a night for a four-night stay. Summer rates are $176 a night for a seven-night stay and $206 a night for a four-night stay.
Loews Sapphire Falls Resort will bring an easy-going Caribbean vibe to Universal. The rooms remind us a lot of those at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort, and we dig the modern, beach look. Here’s a look at the bathrooms.
Mommy Frog loved the tile, but she was quick to note that there is only sink! Note that this photo shows a shower and no bathtub. We’re not sure if that will be standard or if this will be in some rooms.
The 1,000-room resort built around a lush, tropical lagoon and towering waterfall.
Guests can expect traditional island styling but modern comforts in this full-service hotel, which will include 77 suites. The resort-style pool will feature a water slide, children’s play area, sand beach and fire pit. The resort will include a full-service restaurant with scenic views and outdoor dining, a poolside bar and grill, fitness center and quick-service marketplace.
From Universal: “Dining options will include Amatista Cookhouse, a Caribbean-inspired restaurant with open exhibition kitchen and outdoor dining; Strong Water Tavern, a destination lobby lounge overlooking the hotel’s towering waterfalls and offering a tapas-style menu; Drhum Club Kantine, a poolside bar and grill serving freshly-grilled fare and specialty cocktails; New Dutch Trading Co., a quick-service marketplace; and 24-hour room service. “
Construction is under way for the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, which is located on Adventure Way across from the new Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Like Cabana Bay, it will offer Early Park Admission to the Universal theme parks. Guests will have water taxi and shuttle access to Universal Orlando.
The announcement comes after recent news that Loews Royal Pacific Resort will expand its meeting and event space from 85,000 square feet to more than 140,000 square feet by next fall and the opening this spring of Universal’s newest resort, Cabana Bay Beach.
The opening of Loews Sapphire Falls Resort will bring the total number of on-site hotel rooms to 5,200. Universal Orlando’s other hotels include the Loews Portofino Bay and Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando. Reservations for Loews Sapphire Falls Resort are expected to open in spring 2015.
