Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) gets a landmark booking record for Elite i20 of 56,000+ bookings in four months. The Korean automaker has also retailed 10,500 units of Elite i20 last month. This second-gen i20 was an overnight success but 10K plus sales figure is a landmark number!
Like most of the cross-hatches, the spy shots reveals that the Elite-i20-cross features all-around body cladding along with premium add-ons to its exteriors from its European twin-hatch – projector headlamps, day-time-running-LEDs, LED taillamps, etc. The car maker has coupled its petrol engine with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox, which enables the vehicle to breach the 100 Kmph speed mark in about 15 to 16 seconds.
In order to tune it for the Indian roads, Hyundai has also equipped the i20 with Macpherson struts and torsion beam. The fuel efficiency for the petrol and diesel are claimed at 18.6 and 22.54kmpl respectively.
uilt on an all-new platform that meets the latest global standards – as it has to sell in many developed countries – the car is now even bigger and more upmarket, rivalling many mid-size sedans for space, equipment and road presence. The new car shares little in common with the car it replaces, apart for the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines.
Not surprisingly, it’s more expensive than the earlier car if you make a spec-for-spec comparison. Prices range from a reasonable Rs. 4.89 lakh to Rs. 6.47 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol models, while the diesels are considerably more expensive, ranging between Rs. 6.10 lakh and Rs. 7.67 lakh.
