How to be Fit & Fab

We all know how important it is to stay fit but many of us unfortunately do not know. It is very hard these days to be fit because of all the consumerism going on presently. Every big brand of food and beverages are trying to lure all of us through very appealing marketing and sell there product by showing it to us as very delicious stuff to taste. Somewhere brilliant marketing done by these products have also made them a status symbol. If you are sitting in McDonalds and Dominos you will immediately share check ins of those places and click pick of those burger or pizza and flaunt it on your Facebook as you are doing some very special thing.

Even though it is little hard to get yourself out of the grab hold of consumerism today yet it is very necessary for us, because we are not only loosing our money but we are loosing our health and consequently peace of mind also. A healthy lifestyle ensures reducing the impact of health problems and improving the quality of life. And health is wealth we all have heard about this saying and it is very true, because no matter how much wealth you make and how big empire you build for yourself if you will not be healthy you will not be able to enjoy it all.

All your wealth and the empire will be totally useless for you without a healthy body mind and soul, therefore never ever work or make money on the cost of your health. Always give first preference to your health then go for money and other stuff. Our lifestyle and habits define how healthy we are today and we will be tomorrow. Our life expectancy and the strength to cope with diseases depend on how healthy we are. By following a healthy lifestyle we can prevent many health problems and diseases to occur and increase our life expectancy.

It is very vital to follow a healthy lifestyle. So, what might be the ways to keep yourself healthy, well there are few tips that I have learnt through my efforts to keep myself healthy and I am going to share them here.

Very first thing to know in this effort of keeping our self healthy is BMI, so what is BMI? Well, BMI stand for body mass index. It is a value derived from the weight and height of an individual. The BMI is defined as the body weight divided by the square of the body height and is universally expressed in units of kg/m2. it helps in categorizing the person as underweight, normal weight, overweight and obese. Lots of details regarding BMI is already on internet, I am not getting in it here, all we need to know is that we need to keep our weight under BMI. Even you don’t have to get into the hassle of calculating your BMI because so many mobile phone apps are available to calculate your BMI. You simply have to install one of them in your phone and feed your details. The app will calculate your BMI and show you whether you fall under the category of underweight, normal weight, overweight and obese.

Now when you know what your BMI index is, you get an idea of how much weight you need to reduce or to increase to fall under the category of being normal. We need to keep our weight in control as per our height. How can we do that? The answer of this question is by eating less. Yes we do not need to eat so much, we just need to eat as much as is required by our body. I read in an article that most part of our calories is consumed in our daily life normal routine chores and in keeping us alive. So if we are taking only the amount of calories really required by our body we can not get overweight, but if we are eating more than what is really required then we will get over weight and we will have to do some extra physical activity to burn those calories. And we do it by working out in gym or by running, jogging, swimming, yoga and cycling etc.
